Ham

Name means: Warm
Parents: Noah and unnamed wife
Wife: Not named
Children: Cush, Mizraim, Put, Canaan

Found in: Genesis 5-11, I Chronicles 1, Psalm 78:51, Psalm 105:23, 105:27, Psalm 106:22

Ham was one of Noah's three sons. He survived the flood because he and his wife went into the ark along with his brothers and their wives and his parents. After the flood, Ham's father Noah planted a vinyard and got drunk on the grapes. When he did, Ham looked in on his father's nakedness and then went and told his brothers. Because Ham did not respond respectfully to his father in this situation, Noah cursed Ham's son Canaan. Ham's descendants filled the land of Canaan and Assyria, founding the cities of Babel, Erech, and Nineveh. In addition, the Philistines descended from Ham's son Mizraim.

Genesis 9:18 - And the sons of Noah, that went forth of the ark, were Shem, and Ham, and Japheth: and Ham is the father of Canaan.
